After a 20th century US Air Force pilot/astronaut is accidentally frozen in space aboard a NASA spacecraft, Captain William “Buck” Rogers awakens to a whole new world in 2491, where Earth’s civilization has been rebuilt after the world has experienced a devastating nuclear war, leaving it under the protection of the Earth Defense Directorate. After being revived from his cryopreservation by a group of aliens en route to Earth for a trade conference, he is sent home to Earth to find a civilization in New Chicago and desert wasteland outside the borders. When Buck Rogers learns that the aliens that had “saved” him, the Draconian Empire, had placed a tracking device on his ship to find a way through Earth’s defenses ultimately to destroy Earth, he must do everything he can to help save his planet. Buck Rogers in the 25th Century continues for two seasons of excitement and adventure exploring the dreams of a future time.
The Starfighter in this TV series is a class of heavily armed spaceships designed for maneuverability and speed. Due to its twin boom construction, some have described it as a futuristic version of the World War Two Lightning. The ion fusion engines can launch and land the craft under its own power creating the ability for use in reconnaissance missions and quick getaways. Although this spacecraft is piloted by one person, there’s a small cargo hold that can hold a second person in emergencies.
This model of the Buck Rogers Starfighter is 1/24th scale, cast from the original studio scale patterns. This piece comes with a stand and is fully wired to light the engines and the interior console.
